Power battery data in September: load volume dropped by 30%, new energy vehicle market

Affected by the continuous decline in production and sales of new energy vehicles, the volume of power battery loading also showed a year-on-year decline, falling by 30.9% in September. The fluctuation of the new energy automobile market has been transmitted to the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, and the power battery has borne the brunt.


The China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance has released the power battery data for new energy vehicles in September. Data shows that in September 2019, China's power battery loading volume totaled 4.0GWH, with a year-on-year decrease of 30.9% and a month-on-month increase of 14.3%. Among them, the loading capacity of ternary battery and lithium iron phosphate battery were 2.9GWh and 0.9GWh respectively, up 7.5% and 47.9% respectively from the previous month. In September, the output of new energy passenger cars increased slightly, which improved the loading level of lithium iron phosphate battery to a certain extent. From January to September, China's power battery loading volume is 42.1GWh, with a year-on-year growth of 46.5%. Among them, sanyuanyuan battery loading volume is 29.0GWH, accounting for 68.9% of the total loading volume, with a year-on-year growth of 70.7%. The total loading volume of lithium iron phosphate battery is 12.0GWh, accounting for 28.4% of the total loading volume, with a year-on-year increase of 8.3%.
In September, China produced 19,000 pure electric passenger vehicles with energy density of 160Wh/kg or above, accounting for the total output of pure electric passenger vehicles from 26.3% to 31.6%. The production of models in the range of 125 (inclusive) -140WH /kg and 140 (inclusive) -160Wh/ kg is 0.3 thousand and 37 thousand, respectively, accounting for 5.1% and 62.0% of the total production of pure electric passenger vehicles.
Xu Haidong, assistant secretary-general of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that although the power battery is no longer affected by the subsidy and leans towards high energy density, the feedback from the market side shows that the market still prefers high energy density battery, which indicates the market's demand for advanced technology to some extent.
In September, a total of 52 power battery companies in China's new-energy vehicle market realized supporting vehicle loading, 8 more than in August. The power battery loads of the top 3, top 5, and top 10 power battery companies are 2.9GWh, 3.3GWh, and 3.6GWh respectively, accounting for 74.0%, 82.5%, and 92.0% of the total load, slightly lower than that of August. From January to September, a total of 73 power battery companies in China's new energy automobile market have achieved supporting loading, ranking the top 3, the top 5 and the top 10 power battery companies have loaded 31.7GWh, 33.6GWh and 37.1GWh respectively, accounting for 75.3%, 79.8% and 88.0% of the total load respectively. The power battery industry concentration ratio is still high.
It is noteworthy that, in September, the number of enterprise installation TOP3 changes, aviC Lithium Battery replaced Hefeiguoxuan ranked third, the power battery enterprises increasingly fierce competition. The change in the ranking of the TOP10 enterprises in August and September can be seen from the obvious change, especially for the enterprises ranked from the third to the tenth, there are great changes.
